Wabash swimmers turned in 11 top-20 times as part of the results from the first DePauw University-Wabash College Virtual Swimming and Diving Invitational. The virtual meet took place over the course of two weeks at colleges and universities across six states.

Little Giant seniors Wesley Slaughter and Jan Dziadek, along with freshman Connor Baker, produced times ranked in the top-12 spots among Division III competitors for the season in individual events. Five different Wabash relay teams posted top-17 times compared to all DIII teams to this point in the season.

Slaughter competed in the 200 freestyle relay, placing sixth overall in the meet with a personal-best time of 1:42.70 and ranks 10th in the nation overall. Dziadek finished fourth overall in the 100-yard individual medley by finishing in 55.84 for the 12th-fastest time among DIII swimmers this season.

Baker enjoyed a tremendous collegiate debut by posting four top-10 performances. He placed fifth overall in the meet in the 400-yard individual medley with a personal-best time of 4:13.01, which also ranks fifth in the nation and ninth in Wabash school history. Baker added a sixth-place finish in the 1650 freestyle to also rank sixth in the nation with his time of 16:51.57. He finished the 1000 freestyle event in 10:16.69 for the seventh-quickest time among DIII swimmers and the second-best effort in the virtual meet. Baker scored a 10th-place finish in the 500 free with a personal-best time of 4:44.29, good for 10th-best in the nation as well.

The Wabash 400 free relay team of Dziadek, Gavin Hill, Brandon Edwards, and Caleb McCarty combined to finish the race in 3:16.50 for the eighth-fastest time of the season. Baker, McCarty, Edwards, and Hill turned in the eighth-fastest time of the year in the 800 free relay by finishing in 7:32.63. The 200 free relay team of Baker, James Daniken, Will Melcher, and McCarty completed the race in 1:28.66 to finish with the 11th-fastest time in Division III this season. The Little Giants' 400-yard medley relay team of Justin Dusza, Isaac Temores, Dziadek, and Edwards posted the 12th-fastest time of the season in DIII by finishing in 3:43.44. Dusza, Temores, Dziadek, and Hill added the 17th-quickest time this year in the 200 medley relay at 1:39.70.

"There was some fast swimming not only in our pool but across the country," Wabash head coach Will Bernhardt said. "I am incredibly proud of our efforts on very limited time in the pool. We only recorded 19 workouts before a three-day virtual meet. The results were amazing on such little preparation. It really shows how hungry our men are to get back into competitions. Coming off of one of our best years ever it is very encouraging. Even in a virtual format our men took the opportunity to race and give their best efforts. There was a lot of teams in our invite and they got excited about competing against some of the best in the country. I am very excited about our future."

A total of 18 teams represented by 527 different student-athletes participated in the virtual competition with the coaching staffs from both DePauw and Wabash handling the administrative duties including compiling all the times from each school into a master list. No official team scoring was calculated for the invitational.
