Denver Broncos quarterback situation requires a little more patience - Mile High Report

Good morning, Broncos Country!

George Paton has done the work to improve the defense.

There’s no need to rehash the moves he’s made to make that side of the ball better for the Denver Broncos.

But there’s still a cloud that looms over the Broncos and Broncos Country and there’s no sign it will go away anytime soon.

What does Paton do at the quarterback position?

While an answer may not come in short order, I’m reminded of a few weeks ago when NFL free agency started and some fans were freaking out that Denver’s new general manager wasn’t making any moves.

Instead of trying to figure out what Paton will do, I’ll let the process play out.

I literally have no idea what he’ll do.

Paton could move up to the No. 4 pick in the NFL draft.

He could sign a veteran.

He could make a trade.

He could (likely) run it back with Drew Lock in 2021.

I have no idea.

I totally get the desire for urgency. We’re on five years of something most in Broncos Country have never experienced. This run of putridness is unheard of for the modern version of this franchise. And fans are rightly pissed. They wanted it fixed yesterday.

But instead of panic, I’ll let the process play out.

Let’s give Paton the time to make a decision that is best for the Broncos. Who knows, it may turn out like the moves he made for the defense.
