Little Giants Win Big Blue Track and Field Open - Wabash College

Wabash produced a series of season- and career-best times Friday night to win the Big Blue Track and Field Open at Millikin University.
 
The Little Giants scored a total of 209 points to edge out Monmouth College in second place with 195 points. Millikin finished third overall with 113 points, followed by Greenville in fourth place with 95.5 points.
 
Josh Wiggins won the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.02. Leo Warbington placed second overall by finishing with a career-best time of 15.25. Takeshi Greiner finished the race in 16.02 to earn a fourth-place finish. Willy Shepler gave the Little Giants four runners in the top-five places by grabbing fifth place with a career-best time of 16.04. Wiggins finished second in the 400-meter hurdles with a season-best time of 56.12. Max Bigler finished in 57.31 to earn third place. Greiner added a fifth-place finish with a career-best time of 58.49.
 
Brandon Peck won the hammer throw with a career-best distance of 52.10 meters (170-11). Peck also finished fourth in the shot put with a top throw of 13.88 meters (45-6.50). Brandon English turned in a top mark of 13.44 meters (44-1.25) to finish in fifth place.
 
Luke Bender won the pole vault by clearing a career-best height of 4.55 meters (14-11).
 
Bigler finished second in the high jump after clearing a top height of 1.98 meters (6-6).
 
Tyler Ramsey placed second in the 400-meter dash with a career-best time of 50.22. Jose Franco raced to third place by matching his career-best time of 50.55. Howie Steele finished in fourth place with a time of 51.62.
 
Joe Deiser turned in the best time of his career in the 5,000-meter run, finishing in 15:41.06 to earn second place. Ian Dickey added a third-place finish with a career-best time of 15:45.85. Drew Bluethmann crossed the finish line in fourth place with a career-best time of 15:47.80.
  
Gianni Minor posted a season-best leap of 6.40 meters (21-00) to place second in the long jump. Kamron Ferguson scored a fourth-place finish with 6.28 meters (20-7.25), also his best mark of the season.
 
Reis Thomas produced a throw of 44.89 meters (147-03) to earn second place in the discus with the best mark of his career. Peck finished in third place with a throw of 43.89 meters (144-00).
 
The 4x100-meter relay team of Trashan Clemons, Ethan Hurt, Franco, and Steven Coffing combined for a time of 43.18 to finish in second place. Steele, Franco, TK Walls, and Thomas Joven finished the 4x400-meter relay in 3:24.42.
 
Ethan Pine completed the 800-meter run in a career-best time of 1:56.09 to earn third place. Hunter Wakefield finished in fourth place in the 1,500-meter run in a career-best time of 4:11.02.
 
Wabash is scheduled to compete at Olivet Nazarene University on Saturday, May 1.
