VERMILLION, S.D. – The South Dakota men's golf program will tee of the 2021 fall season in Little Apple when they compete in the Wildcat Invitational at the Colbert Hills Golf Club on Monday and Tuesday in Manhattan, Kansas.
There are 13 teams and 75 players that will compete on the par-72, 7,525-yard course founded by K-State golf legend Jim Colbert. The field includes Bradley, Creighton, Drake, Kansas City, Missouri State, North Dakota State, Omaha, Oral Roberts, Sam Houston State, South Dakota, Southern Illinois and Wichita State.
A shotgun start to the first and second rounds on Monday will begin at 8 a.m., on Monday with the Wildcats starting on holes 1 through 3. The final round will take place on Monday with tee times beginning at 8 a.m.
The event is free for fans to attend, but live scoring can also be found at www.golfstat.com throughout the event.
Competing for the Yotes will be Ben Hicks, Max Schmidtke, Ryan Neff, Ian Johnston and Hunter Rebrovich. Logan Hamak will compete as an individual. Schmidtke, Rebrovich and Hamak will be making their Coyote debuts this week.
South Dakota returns five golfers while graduating house hold names such as Matt Tolan and Tate Arends. Hicks leads the returners with a 76.28 stroke average and one top 10 finish from last season. He had one round of par or below and recorded a low round of 72. Johnston recorded a low round of 73 and had a stroke average of 76.56 while Neff had a low round of 75 and a stroke average of 78.50.
After placing fifth at the Summit League Championships the Yotes will look to move up the leaderboard after graduating two golfers who have been instrumental in the lineup over the past five years.
