The NorthEast Earth Coalition’s Free Little Pantry Project — a grassroots, crowdsourced movement to combat local food needs for neighborhoods and communities — along with Celadon Books and The Jane Goodall Institute, is participating in Sharing the Hope on Saturday, Oct. 16.
Some of the copies of Jane Goodall’s latest book, “The Book of Hope,” will be placed in the pantry locations around town. The event is to encourage people to donate food for the pantries.
The organization asks people to place donations in its little free pantries, then take a photo or make a video for social media, tagging the location where the pantry is located. It asks donors to use the hashtags and#NEECFreeLittlePantry, #TheBookofHope and #MontclairLove&Care, and tag the username @JaneGoodalliNST. In the caption, participants can explain why they are sharing food and share Goodall’s message of hope with neighbors in need, and encourage other to do the same.
For donations and additional information, contact NEEC at Info@neearth.org
Montclair is seeking to raise $230,000 from donors, members and grantors between Oct. 1 and Dec. 31 to put us on firm footing for 2022, and continue supporting the hard work of our journalists into the new year and beyond.
