History

The Wabash College lacrosse team matched early goals with 20^th-ranked Denison in the Little Giants' 2022 North Coast Athletic Conference opener at home on Saturday. The Little Giants scored twice in the first period to cut the Denison lead in half and added two more goals in the second period before eventually falling to the Big Red 27-6.
 
Wabash (3-5, 0-1 NCAC) trailed 4-0 before Ethan Stonis circled behind the net and found an opening on the left side of the field to score his 11^th goal of the season with 5:56 on the first-period clock. Stonis took a pass from Joseph Plencner to record his second goal of the game 33 seconds later to bring Wabash to within two goals of the Big Red (5-3, 1-0 NCAC).
 
Anthony Nguyen picked up his 14th goal of the year off another assist from Plencner with 2:30 remaining in the second period. Once again the Little Giants repeated a goal-scoring sequence in a span of 32 seconds when Plencner found the back of the net with 1:58 left in the period for his team-leading 17^th goal of the year and fourth of the game for Wabash.
 
Josh Taylor added his third goal of the season in the third period. Plencner scored one more time for Wabash off an assist by Artie Rogers to provide the sixth and final goal in the contest for the Little Giants.
 
Plencner finished with two goals on two shot attempts and added two assists. Stonis put up four total shots and scored two goals for Wabash. AJ Miller scooped up a team-high six ground balls and caused four turnovers. Anthony Nguyen and Tanner Simmons each caused a pair of turnovers for the Little Giants in the game.
 
Matthew Hendrick recorded seven saves and faced a total of 32 shots on goal in the contest. Wabash limited Denison to one goal on four extra-man opportunities.
 
Wabash continues its NCAC schedule with a home game against Allegheny College on Saturday, April 2 at noon at Fischer Field.
