A production of Disney’s ‘The Little Mermaid Jr.’ will be performed at the Broadway Theatre.
‘The Little Mermaid’ is a classic Disney movie, based on a story with the same name by Hans Christian Anderson, that follows a mermaid princess with a beautiful voice who falls in love with a human prince and makes a deal with a sea witch to be with him. ‘The Little Mermaid Jr.’ musical is a children’s version of the Broadway musical that was staged in the early 2000s and follows the same story with a few changes and new songs.
“The kids have been saying they wanted to do ‘The Little Mermaid,'” show director Faith Howard said. “I’ve got up onstage to help the kids learn what to do and then they come on and put their own twist on it.”
There are community children from ages 17 and under who have been working on this production.
“Putting this show on has been fabulous,” Beth Ebright, a representative with the Broadway Theatre, said. “This kids have been practicing for around 10 weeks.”
Show times will going on at 7 p.m. on March 18, 25, and 26, and at 2 p.m. on March 20 and 27. Tickets are $10 and will be available on the Broadway Theatre website and at Ric’s Food Center.
“We’re expecting a fabulous opening night,” Ebright said. “Sales are projected to be fantastic.”
