A bakery made popular by its presence at farmers' markets on the peninsula has now opened a new permanent location that will allow it to expand its popularity. Little Sky Bakery has set up shop in a 1,200-square-foot retail space on the ground floor of a new development at 506 Santa Cruz Avenue in Menlo Park, across the street from the Caltrain station. It will serve as the bakery’s new headquarters and will allow Little Sky’s dozen employees to almost double the production of the baked goods they’ve been selling through deliveries and at pop-ups and farmers' markets on the Peninsula.

The new location is also selling products to walk-in customers Wednesday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. According to the SF Chronicle, “expect an assortment of bread, onion-parmesan bialys, enormous chocolate chip cookies, and golden loaves of cinnamon-raisin pain de mie, among other Little Sky staples.” Keep in mind, there is no customer seating for this location but they’ll soon be tackling that problem.

The Chronicle reports that Little Sky’s owner, Tian Mayimin, will also be opening another new location just steps away from the new headquarters, this one even more ambitious. It will take over the former Borrone MarketBar space at 1010 El Camino Real, and it will be called Little Sky Kitchen. This will be more of a cafe-style eatery with offerings like pizza, sandwiches, cakes, ice cream, and of course, several different types of bread that Little Sky is famous for. No opening date has been set for this location but expect to see an announcement over the next few months.

With the combination of the two new spaces, Mayimin is expected to start trying her hand at new creations for Little Sky, like different muffins and focaccia bread varieties. She also wants to add more items that are popular in Northwest China where she is from “including rou jia mou, a steamed bread stuffed with meat that’s often referred to as a Chinese hamburger, and Baozi, enormous steamed dumplings filled with pork, shrimp, and purple kale, or tofu and chives, a Chinese New Year staple in Mayimin’s family,” the Chronicle reports.
