A little sweetness helps the medicine go down - Wyoming News Now

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - A group of local girls scouts took the “spoon full of sugar....” adage to heart and set their sights on helping a group of folk that needed a little uplift.

When you’re having a tough moment, nothing beats indulging in a little something sweet or chocolatey to make you feel better.

Well, that’s exactly what Girl Scout Troop 1177 thought when they organized a donation.

This group of High School Girls Scouts donated about 400 boxes of cookies to the Cheyenne Regional Cancer Center.

This ongoing community-conscious effort hopes to brighten cancer patients’ days while getting their treatment.

Letting them know the community cares and hopes for their speedy recovery.

“These cookies just add on top of that and not only are they getting some sweets to help with that taste and that long infusion, but they are knowing that somebody in the community cared about them and I think that that mental boost is really helping them as well.” said Scott Fox, Executive Director, Cheyenne Regional Medical Center Foundation.

According to nursing staff, cancer patients’ favorites are the thin mints and the lemon ups.

These cookies’ robust flavors help rid the metallic medicine taste patients get during their treatment, and the long infusions times pass quickly.

That kind of community support makes you feel good. Good job, troop 1177.
