With the 28th Little League International Congress set to take place in the birthplace of Little League on June 10-13, 2022, it is time to preview some of the exciting events in store for registrants throughout Williamsport this weekend:
Opening Convocation (Community Arts Center)
A welcoming of Little League’s top-level volunteers, the Opening Convocation will feature opening remarks from Stephen D. Keener, Little League President and CEO, and Hugh E. Tanner, Little League International Board of Directors Chairman, along with a number of special guests as the 28th Little League International Congress gets underway in the birthplace of Little League Baseball and Softball. This event will look back at the last four years since the last Congress in New Orleans, reminisce on the achievements Little League has made since it began in 1939, and kick off the celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Little League Baseball World Series this August with special presentations and a panel discussion featuring notable, former LLBWS participants.
Education Sessions and Panel Discussions (Penn College/Community Arts Center)
Throughout the entire weekend, Little League staff and other experts across the industry will share their insight, expertise, and guidance as registrants help to plan for the future of the organization with a series of panel discussions, educational opportunities, and question and answer sessions. In addition to the educational opportunities, delegates will have the opportunity to review the Congress Agenda and provide their insight before later given the chance to vote on potential rule and regulations changes later in June.
Umpire Clinic Featuring Gerry Davis (Little League International Complex)
Hosted by Little League International and featuring Retired MLB Umpire Gerry Davis as a guest instructor, the In-Person Umpire Clinic will provide District Umpires-in-Chief and other district staff the opportunity to train and learn how to help train volunteers to officiate games using a two-umpire system on Howard J. Lamade Stadium.
Chairman’s Celebration (Little League International Complex)
To round out the 28th Little League International Congress, volunteers will be invited to the Little League International Complex for the Chairman’s Celebration, officially kicking off the start of National Little League Week and the countdown to the 75th Anniversary of the Little League Baseball World Series. The event will feature local Little League teams from throughout Pennsylvania District 12 taking part in both a Little League Challenger Division® game and a Little League Sandlot Fun Days event, the first-round drawings for both the Little League Baseball and Softball World Series tournaments, as well as other special award presentations and festivities. The event is scheduled to conclude with a special acoustic performance from rising country music star, and 2013 LLBWS participant, Conner Smith.
In addition to the events listed above, registered Congress attendees will also be provided with exciting private event opportunities, exclusive merchandise options, and access to special guests and presenters during their time in Williamsport.
