Area residents can once again enter to win tickets to the annual MLB Little League Classic at Bowman Field in August. This year’s contest, set for Sunday, August 21, will feature the Boston Red Sox and Baltimore Orioles as part of ESPN’s “Sunday Night Baseball” at 7 p.m.
The entry for tickets is open to residents of Lycoming County. The sweepstakes runs through Wednesday, June 29. Winners will be notified after the sweepstakes ends with instructions on how to receive their tickets.
Those who wish to receive their tickets can enter now at MLB.com/LLClassic. Individuals must enter by noon on Wednesday, June 29, to be entered for the sweepstakes. Those who enter must be legal residents of Lycoming County and must be at least 18 years of age or older at the time of entry. Fifty prizes will be awarded and the sweepstakes is limited to one entry per person/email address.
This year’s classic will be the fifth game played at Bowman Field. The Pittsburgh Pirates beat the St. Louis Cardinals in the first MLB Little League Classic in 2017in from of 2,596 fans — the most yet for an MLB Little League Classic at Bowman Field. The New York Mets beat the Philadelphia Phillies in 2018, 8-2. The Chicago Cubs beat the Pittsburgh Pirates, 7-1, in 2019, and the then-Cleveland Indians beat the Los Angeles Angels, 3-0, in 2021. There was no game held in 2020 due to the Series being canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. This year’s game between the Red Sox and Orioles was originally scheduled for 2020.
This year’s analysts for the game will be David Cone and Eduardo Perez. Karl Ravech will do play-by-play and Buster Olney will do sideline reporting. It’s the first Classic for Cone and Perez as analysts.
