MIAMI – Police are still investigating a deadly shooting that happened on Saturday night in Miami.

Family members of the victim spoke to Local 10 News on Wednesday. They said the young man, who they identify as 19-year-old Princeton Ulysse, had his whole life ahead of him.

He is described as a loving person who had just graduated high school a year ago, someone who enjoyed singing and sports, and loved everyone around him.

“That child, he’s everything to me and he’s so nice,” said Adrienne Ulysse, the victim’s grandmother.

That is why his family cannot understand why someone would shoot and kill him.

The shooting happened around 8 p.m. Sunday in Miami’s Little Haiti neighborhood, near Northwest 2nd Avenue and 56th Street.

When authorities arrived, they found the 19-year-old suffering from gunshot wounds. He was rushed to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital, but it was there he was pronounced dead from his injuries.

“He got shot three times, in the arm, the butt, and the last shot pierced his heart,” said Laura Marcelus, the victim’s cousin.

The family is planning on holding a candlelight vigil on Friday in the area where Ulysse was shot and killed.

Police are still investigating the shooting.

“I would like to know why they kill him, why that happened,” said Adrienne Ulysse. “Was it a drive by shooting, or if he has something with somebody, or if they have something with him.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
