The Independent Gamer: 'Little Nightmares 2' Releases, 'Skate City' Coming to Consoles - Hollywood Reporter

The horror-themed puzzle platformer brings back child protagonist Six as an AI companion to help the new player character, Mono, with difficult encounters amid the dreamlike journey.

"We wanted this episode to be a clear step up in the franchise, from a visual standpoint but also from a gameplay perspective," wrote Lucas Roussel, producer at Bandai Entertainment Europe in a statement amongst press materials distributed for the game. "We wanted to expand on what players have enjoyed, bringing people's worst nightmares to life where defenseless children don't really belong."

The core theme of the game is escapism, in which players will explore "the consequences of a life filled with distractions and hiding from the painful truth of existence."

A next-gen console version of the game will be released later this year.

Skate City Arriving on Consoles and PC

From Canadian developer Snowman and Norwegian publisher Agens, skateboarding game  Skate City achieved much popularity when it was released as an exclusive on Apple Arcade in 2019. Now, the game is now set for a console and PC release, including Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, the Epic Games Store, and Steam.

Deckbuilding Roguelike RPG Doors of Insanity Released This Week

Role-playing games company OneShark, comprised of Latvian and American developers, along with Taiwanese publisher Another Indie, announced the early access release of its deckbuilding roguelike RPG Doors of Insanity, dropping on Steam Feb 10.

The game is set in Purgatory, where players must customize their character and traverse monster-infested corridors, putting enemies to the test with strategic moves.

Nintendo Indie World Showcase Title Launches on Switch

Argentinian developer Robi Studios and publisher Graffiti Games have dropped 3D action platformer Blue Fire on Nintendo Switch and Steam.

The game tasks players with adventuring through a desolate kingdom to discover long-lost secrets about a forgotten land.

Team 17 to Publish Studio Koba's Debut Title Narita Boy

British video game publisher Team 17 has partnered with Spanish developer Studio Koba to publish its debut title Narita Boy this Spring on Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The narrative-driven side-scrolling 2D platformer, which evolved from a Kickstarter campaign, sees players tasked with traversing a digital kingdom and wielding weaponry in order to ward off invaders.

The game is an homage to the 1980s, featuring pixelated environments and digitized characters.

Musical RPG Viola: The Heroine's Melody Launching This Month

Dutch developer Jelle Van Doorne is releasing his game Viola: The Heroine's Melody on Feb. 17 on Steam.

Currently available in early access, the game sees Viola, in insecure young girl, trapped inside her violin's magical and fantastical world and explores the idea of learning to love oneself. In a pixelated environment, the hybrid game features RPG-like and platformer battles along with story-driven elements.

Spiderweb Software Releasing Remastered Version of Geneforge

Jeff Vogel's Seattle-based developer Spiderweb Software is dropping a remastered version of the 20-year-old role-playing, fantasy and sci-fi game Geneforge, titled Geneforge 1 - Mutagen. The game will drop Feb. 24 on Steam for PC and Mac.

Developer GFX47's Tactical Game No Plan B to Drop This Year

Sebastien Dubois, whose background includes both AA and AAA games with Ubisoft in Montreal (where he worked on the free-to-play MMORPG Might & Magic Heroes: Kingdoms) and Amplitude Studios (where he worked on the roguelike tower defense game Dungeon of the Endless), is releasing tactical game No Plan B as a solo developer under the name GFX47 on PC for Steam later this year.
