LITTLE FALLS — A 39-year-old Little Falls man died Wednesday, Dec. 6, after a workplace accident at a firewood processing facility in northern Morrison County.

The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office responded to the accident, reported at 10:28 a.m. on 233rd Street in Fort Ripley Township, about 7 miles north of Little Falls.

According to the sheriff’s office, Hector Gonzalez Zelaya was found trapped in a firewood processing machine by co-workers. Deputies and first responders arrived and attempted life-saving measures but were unsuccessful. Zelaya was declared deceased at the scene.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "staff." Often, the "staff" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
